Memorial concert for Professor Norman Sharp

Following the sad passing of Professor Norman Sharp last year, Norman’s family have asked us to share details of a memorial concert taking place on Saturday 25th May. Please feel free to share with sector colleagues who worked with and knew Norman, who may be interested…

On May 25th 2024, the Paisley Abbey Music Society will present a concert of J.S. Bach’s B Minor Mass at Paisley Abbey in memory of Prof Norman Sharp. The Paisley Abbey Choir will be joined by an orchestra of leading professional baroque players and soloists and directed by Dr George McPhee.

Norman was a lover of music and sang in the Paisley Abbey Choir for over 60 years. He would have sung in a performance of the B Minor Mass, his favourite work, at Paisley Abbey in 2020 but it had to be cancelled due to COVID so it is fitting to pay respects to him with a performance of this great masterpiece. The family would be grateful if this invitation to support the concert could be shared amongst those who knew and worked with Norman and we hope you are able to join them for what will be a very special concert.

There is a fundraising page aiming to raise funds towards the cost of the concert and any donations are welcomed.
