Description
Our third meeting of sparqs’ National Education Officers’ Network (NEON) took place by video-conference. NEON was set up in response to feedback from student officers who expressed the need for a national officer network with members from both universities and colleges.
The network is designed to be a space for officers to network and work on issues together in a cross-sector capacity. The network is aimed at student officers with education remits from colleges and universities across Scotland.
This meeting of NEON focused on the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on the Scottish college and university sectors, and how student officers can continue to support and deliver effective student engagement and representation activity during this time.
The meeting’s topics included:
- Online student representation – as significant changes are made to learning, teaching and assessment, how can we ensure that the student voice is heard?
- Quality in the time of COVID-19.
- Equality, diversity and inclusion: considering diverse student needs.
- Future planning: What will 2020/21 look like and how can students be involved in shaping this?
